Holiday Village Stroll
The 2023 Holiday Village Stroll is scheduled for the weekend of December 8-10 in Lake Placid, and features three days of family-friendly activities, including a family skating party at the Olympic Center, story time and photos with Santa in Mid’s Park, the Jingle Bell Run, a scavenger hunt, tree lighting, a free movie showing and more.
Ice Skating
The Olympic Oval offers outdoor skating day or night, surrounded by the twinkle of Christmas lights and mountain views. Skate sessions are $12 during the week, $20 on weekends, and free for kids age 6 and under. Rent skates for $10, or bring your own and enjoy free ice skating and pickup hockey games on Mirror Lake.
Dog Sled Rides
Beginning the day after Christmas, visitors can glide across the frozen tundra pulled by a dog sled. Depending on ice conditions, two dog sled teams can be found on Mirror Lake behind the Golden Arrow Resort and the Players Sports Bar, or at the Lake Placid Horse Showgrounds. Dog sled rides are offered seven days a week from 10 AM to 5PM between Christmas and New Year’s for $20 per person.
Toboggan Chute
At the south end of Mirror Lake, the toboggan chute is a 30-foot high converted ski jump trestle that sends toboggans sliding down an ice-covered chute onto frozen Mirror Lake. The cost is $10 for students, $15 for adults and includes the toboggan rental and multiple runs. Note: opening day varies each year, depending on the thickness of the ice.
